Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What should I look for in an Instructor? A: Find a QUALIFIED instructor you feel comfortable with.
Q: How do I know they are actually qualified to Instruct what they teach? A: ASK THEM! , What specific training and experience do they have in this area? If they have an issue giving you an answer then go elsewhere. Understand that MANY instructors in Texas have little to no real experience in Personal protection or Active shooting.
Q: What do you consider qualified? A: An Instructor that has sought out and taken RESPECTED courses in the area of instruction you are interested in, coupled with personal / firsthand experience in that area. Many just take a general "How to be an instructor course" then buy add on certifications that contain NO actual hands on training from experts on that topic.
Q: Why don't you offer in person LTC classes? A: Coming from Los Angeles I was required to go through 16 hours of hands on training with a state certified instructor in order to carry a concealed handgun. The standards here are very different. Personally I don't feel comfortable signing off on someone that I don't know can handle a pistol in a self defense situation. That's why I offer the LTC qualification as an add on to the pistol tactics course.
Q: Why would I need an LTC , we have constitutional carry? A: Not only is it your expedited background check when doing a firearms purchase but try going into many commonly frequented stores or cross state lines without it being a crime.
Q: You don't offer in person LTC training, so who would you suggest for in person LTC training in the Austin area? A: Contact Glenn Hazelton at Longhorn Training LLC
